Five Vines

Therapy and Consulting

At Five Vines we believe that everyone can grow. As physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual persons, we’re full of potential for positive change. And sometimes, we could use some help. Our mission is to walk with you. We are guided in that process by three core values:

Compassion

We recognize that our clients have been through difficult circumstances, often beyond their control.

Respect

We see our clients as experts on their own lives, people with agency and their own beliefs and values.

Integrity

We strive to have relationships of honesty, to recognize our own strengths and limitations, and are committed to our own professional growth.

Professionals

Each Five Vines professional is self-employed and contact information is at the bottom of their bios. You can also fill out the form on the contact page.

Judith (Judi) Heppner

Psychotherapist, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW

Judi brings warmth and humour into therapy, and has high regard for her clients. She often hears people say they are surprised with how comfortable they feel talking to her. In her 30 years of experience she has become familiar with conditions that can be challenging for individuals and their caregivers, such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Fragile X. She has an integrative approach, with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory being the frameworks she uses the most.

Some of the issues Judi works with are:

  • Negative emotions, like depression and anxiety

  • Relationship difficulties, such as parenting problems, couple conflict and separation and divorce.

  • Experiences in unhealthy environments, such as toxic workplaces and faith communities

  • Reaching life goals, such as healthier lifestyles and education

Fees are $120 per individual and $140 for a couple/family session or any therapy funded by NIHB. She can take a limited number of clients on a sliding scale if they do not have insurance and are lower income. Judi is able to direct bill NIHB, Manitoba Blue Cross, Green Shield and many insurers who use Telus eClaims services.

Andrea Mckenzie

Psychotherapist, BSW, MSW, RSW

Andrea has over 25 years of experience working with people grappling with a variety of issues and challenges and/or seeking to improve their lives. She knows that it can be difficult to reach out for therapy, and that each person has strengths and stories beyond any challenges they are facing. She brings a warm and caring presence, with a twist of humour into therapy that clients have expressed makes them feel comfortable and understood, and able to share whatever they want or need to. She has a genuine appreciation for client’s experiences and willingness to reflect on themselves in therapy.

While working primarily from a narrative perspective, Andrea incorporates aspects of other approaches to best meet client needs, including but not limited to solution-focused and cognitive behavioral, within an attachment-based and trauma informed model. She works with people to express their story, consider the problem story’s effects on their life and relationships, and to open up space for strengthening what is currently working, while developing new ways about thinking about or responding to the problem(s). This results in reducing feelings of distress the problems may be creating and ultimately allows one to feel better and live the life they prefer for themselves.

Some of the issues Andrea works with are:

  • Trauma (current/past)

  • Life goals

  • Relationship challenges

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Life stress/burn out

  • Life transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Feelings and symptoms related to sexual abuse/assault (self-blame, other blame, flashbacks/ reoccurring thoughts, anxiety, shame, confusing feelings, anger, fear, difficulty with trust of self and others, intimacy issues both sexual and non-sexual)

  • Emotional regulation (includes anger management)

  • Parenting issues

  • Developing healthier communication/assertiveness/ boundary setting skills

Fees are $130+ per individual and $150+ per two-person session (couple; parent-child). Those with insurance coverage will be provided with a receipt to submit a claim through their provider.
