Five Vines

Therapy and Consulting

At Five Vines we believe that everyone can grow. As physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual persons, we’re full of potential for positive change. And sometimes, we could use some help. Our mission is to walk with you. We are guided in that process by three core values:

We recognize that our clients have been through difficult circumstances, often beyond their control.

We see our clients as experts on their own lives, people with agency and their own beliefs and values.

We strive to have relationships of honesty, to recognize our own strengths and limitations, and are committed to our own professional growth.

Each Five Vines professional is self-employed and contact information is at the bottom of their bios. You can also fill out the form on the contact page.

Andrea Mckenzie

Psychotherapist, BSW, MSW, RSW

Andrea has over 25 years of experience working with people grappling with a variety of issues and challenges and/or seeking to improve their lives. She knows that it can be difficult to reach out for therapy, and that each person has strengths and stories beyond any challenges they are facing. She brings a warm and caring presence, with a twist of humour into therapy that clients have expressed makes them feel comfortable and understood, and able to share whatever they want or need to. She has a genuine appreciation for client’s experiences and willingness to reflect on themselves in therapy.

While working primarily from a narrative perspective, Andrea incorporates aspects of other approaches to best meet client needs, including but not limited to solution-focused and cognitive behavioral, within an attachment-based and trauma informed model. She works with people to express their story, consider the problem story’s effects on their life and relationships, and to open up space for strengthening what is currently working, while developing new ways about thinking about or responding to the problem(s). This results in reducing feelings of distress the problems may be creating and ultimately allows one to feel better and live the life they prefer for themselves.

Some of the issues Andrea works with are:

  • Trauma (current/past)

  • Life goals

  • Relationship challenges

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Life stress/burn out

  • Life transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Feelings and symptoms related to sexual abuse/assault (self-blame, other blame, flashbacks/ reoccurring thoughts, anxiety, shame, confusing feelings, anger, fear, difficulty with trust of self and others, intimacy issues both sexual and non-sexual)

  • -Emotional regulation (includes anger management)

  • Parenting issues

  • Developing healthier communication/assertiveness/ boundary setting skills

Fees are $120+ per individual and $135+ per two-person session (couple; parent-child). Those with insurance coverage will be provided with a receipt to submit a claim through their provider.

Tim Plett

Life Coach, BA

Tim has been helping people move through complex seasons in their lives for over three decades. He finds humans endlessly fascinating, and feels honored to be invited into the deep places of other’s lives. Tim believes we all know more than we think we know about how to move toward our best future, and that sometimes a careful listener can help us hear our own solutions. We don’t need to stay stuck.

Tim specializes in coaching people through transitions of all sorts, and especially enjoys helping folks become aware of their values so they can live with deeper personal integrity. He has also spent several years concentrating on coaching people whose spirituality and/or faith are shifting, and finds that terrain very intriguing and hopeful.

Life Coaching typically emphasizes outcomes, while therapy often leans toward process. Tim is “process inclined” and “outcome committed”. In other words, he believes that sometimes you have to spend some time talking about how you got here (process) in order to figure out how to go on from here (outcomes). Let’s get started…

Fees are $70.00 per one hour session; $75.00 per two person session.
